Remember ‘Tank’, the portly youngster from a long-running serial of pre-Lineker post-Comedy Racism Walkers Crisps ads who professed to have eaten ‘a hundred packets in a day once’, and who was fleetingly considered so iconic that he was even namechecked by The Mary Whitehouse Experience, taking a rare breather from their up to the minute topical gags about British Rail?
No? Well, you aren’t alone – until recently, the internet was bereft of even a single mention of Tank and his snack-scoffing known associates, aside from a lone Wikipedia page that was deleted for – yes, you guessed it – reasons of [CITATION NEEDED]. Happily, this has now been rectified, with the arrival of a Tank fan site that even boasts an interview with the crisp-toting late eighties consumerist figurehead himself.

I thought I would drop you a message to say “Thank you” for remembering my old Walkers Crisp adverts, I only came across this as one of my old work colleagues has started working in my office and choose to let the whole company know about my child acting past and demanded I find something online to show them.
Being in my late 30’s now it always brings a smile to my face when I see some reference to my crazy tv past, so thanks for making an old (ish) man happy and bringing back so many fun memories.
Thank you again!
Jonathan Walker (Tank)
A reply from Tank himself!! And thank you, Sir, for surreally enlivening all those ad breaks all those years ago…
