You’ve probably heard by now about Radio 2′s bizarre plan to achieve More Less Something Where Nobody Actually Knows What It Is by giving us one less evening a week of Radcliffe & Maconie and fill the vacant slot with a Thursday Night revival of In Concert (which you can read about here, and draw your own conclusions about the purpose or relevancy of bringing it back, not to mention how much difference there is between it and Radcliffe & Maconie presenting live sessions on, erm, Thursdays). What’s been less widely remarked on, however, is this excitement-instigating announcement from lower down the schedule revision:
“Highlights include a new four-part series with Tony Bennett, in conversation with Michael Parkinson, as he chooses his favourite songs from the Great American Songbook”.
That’s the opposite of a ‘highlight’.
