The TATP Years: 1979, or JIMMMIIIEEEEEE Doesn’t Live Here Any More

The TATP Years stops off in 1979 for forty five minutes of Thatcher-heralding flan-flinging ITV-striking audio collage mayhem in the company of Kenny Everett, XTC, Gary Numan, Elvis Costello, Eddie Shoestring, Steve Martin, Terry Wogan, Brian Of Nazareth, Sapphire, Steel, Sally James, and Film ‘Alien’ (Alien) and many more. Along the way we find out what passed for ‘comedy’ in gritty urban detective shows, what Cliff Richard’s one good record was, and why 1979 was doubly unfortunate for modishly attired disobediants named ‘Jimmy’.

You can download it directly here or subscribe via iTunes. And why not grab 1984 and 1992 while you’re at it? “Welcome, welcome, welcome back to IIIIII-T-V!…”
