1997 was a year of turbulent game-changing events in British public life. More importantly, however, it was a year of Denim, The Grimleys, Chris Morris (Brass Eye AND Blue Jam), The Spice Girls, Blue Boy, Kenickie, Belle & Sebastian, Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery, Super Furry Animals, The Adam & Joe Show, Mark & Lard, Armando Iannucci, Edwyn Collins, Men Behaving Badly, Teenage Fanclub, Chris Evans, I’m Alan Partridge, Eels, Gridlock’d, Mr. Show, Elliot Smith, Ant & Dec, WhittleFierce Creatures, Catch (start those puzzled looks NOW!), and the launch of both TV Cream and Channel 5.
