The TATP Years – our series of year-themed ‘audio collages’ - arrives in 1972, a year when you might have seen Patrick Mower eating some Spangles on a Space Hopper. Though Dominic Sandbrook is about to show up on BBC2 saying that “this really only applied to a couple of dozen people in the trendier areas of London”…
Hopefully, our not-particularly-subtle combination of Alice Cooper, Rainbow, Nick Drake, Lou Reed, David Bowie, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, T-Rex, Pulp (the film, not the band), The Harder They Come, The Electric Light Orchestra, Magpie, Fingerbobs, Last House On The Left, Ace Of Wands, David Ackles, Roxy Music, Slade, The Adventures Of Barry Mackenzie, Born To Boogie, The Au Pair Girls, Neu!, The Protectors, Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland, Sammy Davis Jnr. and of course ‘Dinners’ McCartney & Wings will prove more Sandbrook-friendly. “He’s got a great big grin, and a great big chin, give him half a chance and he’ll be In Like Flynn…”
You can download it directly here, or stream it via Mixcloud (NB the iTunes feed still isn’t working properly, despite what you may have read on Twitter), and don’t forget 1997 is still available too…
