Sadly, as you may well already know, many early episodes of Doctor Who are missing from the archives, disposed of by the BBC at a time before the technology existed for any passing superfans to retain an off-air recording. One such missing episode is Mission To The Unknown, a Doctor-free curio from 1965, in which The Daleks and their eccentrically-physiqued chums The Delegates are seen plotting the plot of the forthcoming twelve-week epic The Daleks’ Master Plan (itself also largely absent from the archives). However, the soundtrack does exist (as the technology did exist for passing superfans to retain an off-air audio recording), and some enterprising fans have had a go at reconstructing the visuals of missing episodes, using only a handful of photographs and a large amount of educated guesswork. Because, obviously, nobody would be unhinged enough to try and re-enact it themselves…
…and if you want to know more about The Delegates and their plan to subjugate the ‘Moon Colonies’, look no further than the epic examination of the epic missing story in my book Well At Least It’s Free. Conquest is assured!
