“We’re all going on a Glum-er Holiday, no more laughing for a week or two”… so sang the Charlie Brooker-scribbled ‘Hank Marlin’ and ‘Tuna Stubbs’, extolling the virtues of the Oink! Summer Special in 1989. Sadly there’s no all-new holiday-themed instalment of Police Vet & The Foxy Chick to use as beach-bound entertainment, so instead, why not have a listen to the sights, sounds and seagulls of the second instalment of TATP’s Summer Smash, Off On Holiday!
Within its beachfront souvenir shops you’ll find Frank Sidebottom, Cliff Richard, Monty Python, The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, The Radio 1 Roadshow, The Specials, Only Fools And Horses, Chas And Dave, Marty Feldman, Nuts In May, Corduroy, The Go-Go’s, Lenny Henry, Dinosaur Jr, Midget, The Drums, and an advert suggesting that the appropriate thing to do with Mars Bars and Milky Way is ‘cool it for a summer day’. Though sadly there’s no Cool It! for a summer day…
You can download it directly from here, or subscribe via iTunes, and don’t forget to have a listen to the first one and indeed while you’re at it the first edition of top holiday magazine show Why Won’t You?…
